Residents at The Swanborough Community recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating the beauty, culture and charm of Italy, thanks to our fantastic physiotherapist, Lorena.
Drawing on her own Italian heritage, Lorena took everyone on a fascinating journey through her home country with a captivating PowerPoint presentation featuring many of her own photographs. Residents travelled from the famous canals of Venice, complete with its unique boat ambulances, to a stunning pink beach coloured by coral, along with many other breathtaking destinations across Italy.
The presentation sparked plenty of conversation, with residents asking questions, sharing memories and enjoying learning about Italian life and culture.
The afternoon was filled with entertainment, including two beautifully performed Italian songs, a lively quiz, delicious Italian biscuits and lots of waving of Italian flags, creating a truly joyful atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the day was a special ‘show and tell’ session, where Lorena passed around a genuine piece of volcanic rock from Italy, giving residents the opportunity to see and feel a unique part of the country’s natural landscape up close.
A huge thank you goes to our legendary Lorena for organising such a thoughtful and engaging afternoon. As well as providing exceptional care and support to our residents every day, she continually goes above and beyond to create meaningful experiences that bring people together, spark curiosity and create lasting memories.
At Swanborough House, we love celebrating the diverse cultures and talents of our team, and afternoons like this are a wonderful example of how our colleagues enrich the lives of those we care for
